Situation
As a leading software developer and service provider for the insurance industry, this company had experienced significant growth and many changes over its 50-plus year history. With the rate of growth declining, the CEO recognized the need to build and develop the management team to support the growth of the company and its product line.
Solution
In an effort to assess those skills required to successfully manage the organization, PVG first met with management. Following these discussions, PVG identified areas for improving leadership, recommended changes to address specific management issues and assisted with facilitating such improvements.
Additional meetings with key staff members revealed opportunities for realigning skills in a few critical positions. By shifting skills and adding resources in areas such as technical development and sales, PVG was able to help implement a new software development process.
PVG also developed a plan to build a Human Resources infrastructure. Included in the plan were strategic initiatives designed to grow the business and maintain a positive, competitive work environment.
Impact
By strengthening the leadership roles and realigning a few key positions, it not only improved company morale, it also enabled greater efficiency. Once the right people were established in the right positions, the new process adopted for software development ensured scalability while it also increased profitability. Finally, by creating compensation strategies to attract, retain, and motivate employees along with training programs to promote career development, this company is well on its way to achieving “best place to work” status.
